Fire damaged a store in a south Charlotte shopping center early Wednesday.

The blaze began just after 5 a.m. in Nemo’s Reef, an exotic fish store, off Sardis Road North near Monroe Road.  Fire investigators said the blaze was caused by an electrical issue. Officials said no one was injured in the fire. No other businesses are expected to be impacted.

News on the FaceBook page of Nemo’s Reef:

Today was an unfortunate and somber day for the Nemo’s Reef Family. We experienced the worse nightmare possible for any business owner, let alone a Local Fish Store owner. There was a fire in the storage area of the store that caused considerable damage to our store.

Nemo’s Reef has been our lives, our dreams, and our service over these 5 years. In these trying times we can learn a lot about ourselves and the others around us. We truly are honored and humbled to be serving the greater Charlotte community. Your thoughts, prays, and outcry have been well received and we truly thank you to everyone who has extended their assistance to us.

We will not go anywhere, the situation will be taken care of and we will rebuild. Nemo’s Reef 2.0 will be bigger, stronger, and better suited to serve Charlotte.
